So, take a deep breath. Step back. Instead of feeling panicked by the size of the issue, get curious about it. Ask yourself, "What is really going on here?" Is the problem that you’re lazy, or is the problem that you’re burned out and need rest? 20 Practical Ways to Find a Solution

Here is a list of simple, effective strategies I’ve used to tackle everything from work projects to personal struggles. You don’t need to do all of them. Just find a few that resonate with you and give them a try.

  1. Define the Real Problem. Don't just look at the symptom. Ask what the root cause is.
  2. Break It Down. A huge problem is just a collection of small problems. When I decided to lose over 110 pounds, the number felt impossible. But I broke it down. Could I make a healthier choice for my next meal? Yes. Could I go for a 10-minute walk today? Yes. I focused on solving the tiny, daily problems, and they added up to a life-changing solution.
  3. Ask "Why?" Five Times. Keep digging deeper. Why did I miss the deadline? I started too late. Why did I start too late? I was procrastinating. Why was I procrastinating? I felt overwhelmed. Why did I feel overwhelmed? I didn't have a clear plan. Ah, the real problem isn't the deadline—it's the lack of a plan.
  4. Work Backward. Start with your desired outcome. What does the finished solution look like? Now, what is the step right before that? And the step before that? This helps you map out a clear path.
  5. Look From Another Angle. How would your best friend see this? Your boss? A complete stranger? Getting out of your own head offers fresh perspective.
  6. Brainstorm Without Judgment. Grab a piece of paper and write down every possible idea, no matter how silly. The goal is quantity, not quality. You can sort through them later.
  7. Talk It Out. Say the problem out loud to a trusted friend, family member, or mentor. You don’t even need their advice. The act of explaining it often helps you see the solution yourself.
  8. Take a Real Break. Stop thinking about it. Go for a walk, do the dishes, or work on something else entirely. Your mind will keep working on the problem in the background.
  9. Get Your Body Moving. A brisk walk or a quick workout can clear the mental fog and help you think more creatively. A change in physiology can lead to a change in psychology.
  10. Change Your Environment. If you’re stuck, move. Go from your desk to the kitchen table, or from your house to a park bench. A new space can spark new ideas.
  11. Look for Patterns. Have you faced a similar problem before? What worked then? What didn’t? History, even your own, is a great teacher.
  12. Simplify Everything. What is the absolute simplest, most direct solution? We often overcomplicate things. Strip away the non-essentials.
  13. Learn From Others. Read books or listen to stories of people who overcame great challenges. You can borrow their strategies and find inspiration in their resilience.
  14. Try the Opposite. If what you’re doing isn’t working, consider doing the complete opposite. It might sound crazy, but it can break you out of a mental rut.
  15. Accept "Good Enough." Perfection is the enemy of progress. Sometimes, a good solution implemented now is better than a perfect solution you never find.
  16. Celebrate the Small Wins. When I was losing weight, celebrating the first pound lost was a huge boost. It proved I could do it. Acknowledging small progress builds momentum and keeps you going.
  17. Practice Daily Gratitude. When you’re focused on problems, your world shrinks. Taking a moment each day to be thankful for what’s good shifts your perspective and opens your mind. It replaces a feeling of lack with a sense of abundance.
  18. Prioritize Your Sleep. You can't solve complex problems when your brain is running on empty. A well-rested mind is a sharp mind. It's not a luxury; it's a necessity.
  19. Pray for Guidance. When I feel completely lost and my own efforts aren't enough, I turn to prayer. It's not about asking God for a magic answer. It’s about asking for wisdom, for strength, and for a clear heart to see the right path He has for me. My faith became my anchor when I was rebuilding my life, providing a calm center in the storm of my problems.
  20. Take One Small Step. Analysis can lead to paralysis. Once you have a decent idea, take action. Just one small step. The first step is often the hardest, but it's also the most important.
